WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman was honored for his dedication and contributions to the fight against hunger as the recipient of Congressional Hunger Center’s Bill Emerson & Mickey Leland Hunger Leadership Award.

“Food insecurity knows no boundaries. Despite Arkansas’ role in the agriculture industry we are unfortunately all too familiar with hunger and malnourishment. As a co-chair of the Senate Hunger Caucus, we’re working to raise awareness and resources to address domestic and international hunger issues. I appreciate the efforts of the Congressional Hunger Center which continues to be a leader on this front,” Boozman said.

The Congressional Hunger Center is a bipartisan, nonprofit organization that works to make domestic and international hunger issues a priority to government officials and educates future leaders on ways to fight against hunger.

The Bill Emerson & Mickey Leland Hunger Leadership Award is named after Congressional leaders who spent their careers fighting hunger and poverty. Honorees are chosen for their significant contributions to fighting hunger in the United States and overseas. They exemplify the determination necessary to make hunger and poverty a focal point in the United States and Congress.
