FAA Award $1.3 Million for Arkansas Airport Improvements

Supports Operations in Columbia, Howard, Monroe, and St. Francis Counties

Sep 19 2014

LITTLE ROCK –U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today announced that four Arkansas airports will receive over $1.3 million from the Federal Aviation Administration to support facility upgrades and expansions.

“Making investments in Arkansas’s infrastructure is essential for the state’s long-term economic growth,” Pryor said. “This funding will allow our local airports to make much-needed upgrades that will in turn promote commerce and travel throughout our state.”

“Our transportation infrastructure is important to commerce and private sector job growth,” Boozman said. “Improvements to Arkansas airports will help accommodate future development to meet the needs of our communities.”

This funding is supported by the FY14 omnibus appropriations bill, which was signed into law in January. The airports receiving funding are as follows:

  • Clarendon: Clarendon Municipal Airport will receive $43,587 to design a taxiway pavement extension that will provide a full-length parallel taxiway for the airport’s runway.
  • Colt: Delta Regional Airport will receive $703,393 to construct a 12-bay T-hangar to provide adequate aircraft storage.
  • Magnolia: Magnolia Municipal Airport will receive $200,907 to install an automatic weather observing system that will enhance the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations by providing accurate, current, and site-specific weather information.
  • Nashville: Howard County Airport will receive $396,000 to rehabilitate its runway and improve the runway safety area.
