WASHINGTON –U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today joined Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-2) to announce more than $1.6 million in Economic Development grants for Faulkner County to expand disaster recovery efforts, and water, sewer and road infrastructure projects.

“Rebuilding is a long process, but this funding will expedite coordination and infrastructure improvements,” Pryor said. “I was proud to work with Senator Boozman and Congressman Griffin to secure this critical funding and boost recovery efforts.”

“I’m committed to helping Arkansans get the resources they need to recover after a disaster,” Boozman said. “This investment in Faulkner County will pave the way for economic development and job creation as communities, residents and business continue to rebuild.”

“I was pleased to support Faulkner County in their application for these grants, which are critically important to help folks in our community rebuild and recover from devastating storms,” Griffin said. “This funding will provide more assistance and improved coordination in disaster recovery efforts, upgrade our infrastructure and support economic development and job growth.”

This funding is provided by the Economic Development Administration to promote job creation and foster disaster resiliency in communities affected by devastating storms. The projects receiving funding are as follows:

  • $300,000 to Central Arkansas Planning and Development District to hire additional staff to coordinate ongoing disaster recovery efforts in Faulkner County.
  •  $201,000 to the City of Vilonia to extend Industrial Park Drive to improve industrial and new business development.
  •  $1.1 million to the City of Mayflower to construct critical water and sewer infrastructure along Interstate Drive to support business expansion.
