Members of Arkansas Delegation Announce More than $3 Million for State Airports

Supports Upgrades to Airports in Arkansas, Baxter, Chicot, Craighead, Greene, Hempstead, Izard, Lawrence, Lonoke, Mississippi, Sevier and Yell Counties

WASHINGTON  - U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton—along with Congressmen Rick Crawford and Bruce Westerman—today announced that 12 Arkansas airports have been awarded more than $3 million from the Department of Transportation to support facility upgrades and expansions. 

“This investment in Arkansas airports will improve economic development in our state. These upgrades are important for long-term growth and job creation,” Boozman said. 

“Local airports play a critical role in Arkansas's economy. These upgrades ensure they will be able to maintain that role for years to come,” Cotton said. 

“Local businesses and tourism need access to updated airport infrastructure in order to flourish. These improvements will encourage economic growth and increase connectivity throughout our state,” Crawford said. 

“I am pleased these grants are coming home to Arkansas. Without strong infrastructure, we cannot expect our economy to grow. This investment Hempstead, Sevier, and Yell Counties will help these communities add jobs and opportunity,” Westerman said. 

The airports receiving funding are as follows: 

Almyra: Almyra Municipal Airport will receive $532,800 to construct the taxiway and expand the apron. 

Blytheville: Blytheville Municipal Airport will receive $177,300 to install perimeter fencing. ? 

Carlisle: Carlisle Municipal Airport will receive $85,483 to rehabilitate the runway. ? 

Danville: Danville Municipal Airport will receive $267,427 to rehabilitate the runway. ? 

De Queen: J. Lynn Helms Sevier County Airport will receive $870,000 to construct a taxiway and install taxiway lighting. ? 

Hope: Hope Municipal Airport will receive $230,000 to install taxiway lighting. ?

Jonesboro: Jonesboro Municipal Airport will receive $294,183 to rehabilitate the taxiway.

Lake Village: Lake Village Municipal Airport will receive $70,200 to rehabilitate runway lighting.

Melbourne: Melbourne Municipal – John E Miller Field will receive $45,000 to construct a taxiway.

Mountain Home: Baxter County Airport will receive $207,000 to rehabilitate the aviation apron.

Paragould: Kirk Field will receive $155,628 to rehabilitate the apron and rehabilitate the taxiway.

Walnut Ridge: Walnut Ridge Regional Airport will receive $497,012 to improve airport drainage and rehabilitate the taxiway.
