WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) released the following statement after the Senate passed legislation to extend federal Highway Trust Fund financing for two months:
“One of the keys to job creation and economic growth is maintaining safe, secure and reliable infrastructure across the nation. Therefore, a long-term solution to this ongoing problem is ideal and remains a priority for me. As we continue to work toward that goal, we cannot allow funding to lapse for the highway projects currently underway in Arkansas and throughout the country. This short-term fix is crucial to Arkansas and other states that rely on this money to improve roads and bridges. It is my hope that the next highway bill we pass is a long-term fix. I remain confident that can be achieved.”
