WASHINGTON – In recognition of National Military Appreciation Month, U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) is reminding Arkansas veterans of the services his office provides to help obtain records of military service for national cemetery burials, service medals and other benefits veterans and their families have earned, all free of charge.

Annually, the top issues Arkansans seek assistance from Boozman’s office with are veteran related. Already this year 220 requests have been made for help with military records and service medals. Veterans also reach out to the senator’s office for Department of Veterans Affairs health care, disability and other benefits claims.

“My highest priority is making sure the federal government is working for Arkansans. That means providing the best possible constituent service and helping connect Natural State residents with federal agencies, especially if paperwork is delaying or preventing earned benefits from being received. Our state is fortunate to have county and regional Veteran Service Officers who do great work each day helping veterans find resources and file for benefits, but there are situations where a case has gone on for too long, the normal processes fail or an emergency needs a faster response,” Boozman said. “I’m pleased we’ve been able to cut through that red tape for thousands of Arkansas veterans and their families with records of military service and I look forward to helping many more.”

Boozman is well-known for his constituent services and pursuing answers from the federal government on behalf of the people of Arkansas. In 2018, the Congressional Management Foundation bestowed its inaugural Democracy Award in the Constituent Service category on his office in recognition of the senator’s commitment to helping Arkansans.
