WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman announced his subcommittee assignments for the Environment & Public Works Committee. Boozman will sit on four subcommittees Transportation and Infrastructure; Superfund, Toxics and Environmental Health; Oversight and serve as the Ranking Member on the Green Jobs and the New Economy subcommittee.

“I am eager to serve on these subcommittees that work to improve the infrastructure, laws and programs that have a major impact on our economy and help to protect our environment. I believe we must conduct strong oversight of the EPA and other agencies and support policies that serve the people, rather than unnecessary regulations that interfere with how Americans can live their lives,” Boozman said.

Transportation and Infrastructure

This subcommittee has jurisdiction over the Federal Highway Administration, public buildings, Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), Economic Development Administration, historic preservation, National Dam Safety Program, Stafford Act and federal disaster relief programs, Mississippi River Commission, and green buildings.

Superfund, Toxics and Environmental Health

This subcommittee has jurisdiction over: Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Superfund and Brownfields, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Chemical Safety Board, federal facilities and interstate waste, Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), environmental justice, risk assessment, and green chemistry.

Oversight

As a member of this subcommittee Senator Boozman will have oversight of agencies, departments, and programs within the jurisdiction of the full committee.

Green Jobs and the New Economy

This subcommittee is responsible for issues related to job creation through the development and deployment of “green” technologies and practices.
