WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) today released the following statement after the release of nationwide unemployment numbers:

“At what point will President Obama recognize that his policies are not working?  After almost three and a half years in office, his out-of-control spending, needless regulations and looming tax hikes are preventing a recovery from taking hold.  Our economy is faltering.  Washington has to change course.

Our national unemployment rate has been above eight percent for a record 40 straight months.  Unless the President works with us to create an economic environment conducive to job creation, I fear that record will reach new heights.   

The nearly 13 million Americans who are looking for work face tremendous odds.  We can help them by passing legislation that fosters growth in the private sector. We need to reform our tax code, reduce regulatory burdens, increase exports and create a new energy policy that allows us to use American resources and decrease our dependency on foreign oil.”
