WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today joined Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) to congratulate the University of Arkansas and the Arkansas World Trade Center on receiving a $160,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration. The grant will expand on the facilities’ work to increase Arkansas’s exports and competitiveness in today’s global marketplace.

“Last year, Arkansas experienced a huge increase in exported merchandise,” Pryor said. “Thanks to this funding, the University of Arkansas and the Arkansas World Trade Center will be able to build even more support for our businesses so they can grow and expand into new markets, create jobs, and bolster our state’s economy.”

“We can be proud of the efforts of the Arkansas World Trade Center and its role in helping state businesses reach a global audience,” Boozman said. “These funds will help strengthen the foundation and continue the efforts already underway to help Arkansas companies compete globally. This is an important investment in our state’s economy as we focus on job creation and economic growth.”

“Thousands of companies recognize the value of manufacturing in Arkansas, and their exports are vital to our state’s economy. We welcome these funds, which will help our state and our companies increase exports and allow our economy to continue to grow,” Womack said.
