WASHINGTON D.C.- U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today joined Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-2) to announce that the City of North Little Rock will receive a $1.5 million grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to purchase new electric generators. The funds will encourage business expansion—like Ben E. Keith—and attract new industry to the area.

“For decades now, Ben E. Keith has been a major player in Arkansas’s economy. I’m pleased to see that they’re taking steps to expand their foothold,” Pryor said. “I was proud to support the bipartisan omnibus appropriations bill to help with their expansion. I look forward to working with them in the future to grow our economy and create even more good-paying jobs here at home.”

“This is a great investment in the people, community and region as we improve economic opportunities to provide well-paying jobs to hardworking Arkansans,” Boozman said. “These funds will help lay the foundation for expansion and job creation at Ben E. Keith and encourage future business and industry development in the area.”

“Our local and national economies benefit from companies like Ben E. Keith and the American jobs they create. I remain committed to supporting policies that allow businesses to expand and grow jobs in Arkansas and across America,” Griffin said.

This EDA investment supports the purchase of new electric generators for installation along Highway 70 and I-440 in the City of North Little Rock. With the help of private funds, the EDA grant is expected to create 85 jobs. EDA grants are awarded through a competitive process.
