WASHINGTON – Paragould’s Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Director of Social Services, Robin Patten, was named a 2015 Congressional Angel in Adoption for her outstanding advocacy of adoption.

Patten is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and dedicates her life to children. As a coordinator for adoptions, she provides emotional support to the birth mother and the adoptive parents. She also assists new and prospective parents in navigating complicated legal matters when contemplating adoption.

“This is such an honor to be included and to be among all of these advocates for children who deserve a forever family. My part is quite small but I hope it makes a difference in someone’s life,” Patten said.

Senator John Boozman nominated Patten as a 2015 Congressional Angel in Adoption. Boozman met with Patten on Capitol Hill on Tuesday during a ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of award recipients from across the country. Boozman included remarks of Patten’s dedication and advocacy in the Congressional Record, the official proceedings of Congress. He joined her for a gala event on Wednesday in honor of the more than 140 Angels.

“Robin is a selfless crusader for children who need a family. I am proud of all she has done to find loving homes for children and for her continued support and promotion of adoption. I’m proud to recognize Robin for her efforts,” Boozman said.

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), coordinates the Angels in Adoption  program and raises awareness about the tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in the United States, and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent homes.
