WASHINGTON –Little Rock Rabbi Barry Block delivered the opening prayer in the U.S. Senate Tuesday as the guest chaplain at the recommendation of U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR).

“I would like to thank Rabbi Block for delivering the opening prayer in the Senate today. I am grateful that he accepted my invitation to lead the Senate with his spiritual guidance,” Boozman said on the Senate floor. “I appreciate his prayer for our country and its leaders.”

Block serves as leader of Congregation B’nai Israel, Arkansas’s largest Jewish congregation, a position he’s held since 2013.

The Senate Chaplain invites two ordained clergy members, each month, to pray in the Senate as guest chaplains. Guest chaplains have represented all the world's major religious faiths.
