Dr. Boozman's Check-up
Veterans are used to being part of something bigger than themselves. I enjoyed getting to see that in action this weekend when Sheep Dog - Impact Assistance was in Gravette. This organization brought together a group of veterans and first responders and helped them build camaraderie while doing an outdoor activity, this time spending a few hours at a shooting range. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about the organization and see how my office can be helpful at the federal level in order to support groups doing this type of work.
There are certainly veterans in need who can be helped by programs like this and I think the more effort that's made in helping to create bonds and relationships is ultimately a net positive in the fight against PTSD and other conditions that many former service members face. Thank you to the folks at Sheep Dog for helping serve our nation's heroes in this way.
