WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today announced that the El Dorado Fire Department will receive a $67,500 grant from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program to purchase stretchers, backboards, and splints.
“This grant will provide El Dorado firefighters with the equipment they need to safely transport injured residents out of harm’s way,” Pryor said. “Our local firefighters put their lives at risk to protect our communities, and we owe it to them to make sure they have the resources they need to do their jobs.”
“This funding will help the El Dorado Fire Department provide crucial emergency care to the community,” Boozman said. “It is vital that our first responders have the necessary equipment to help those in need. This grant will ensure that El Dorado’s firefighters are prepared.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency is supported by the omnibus appropriations bill and provides fire departments and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) organizations with the tools and resources necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel. During Fiscal Year 2013, DHS AFG Program awarded approximately $288.8 million directly to local fire departments and EMS organizations.
