WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S Senator John Boozman applauded the efforts of the talented college students interning in his Washington D.C. office for their service to the people of Arkansas.
“Our interns have been a great help to the people of Arkansas during their time in Washington. I appreciate their dedication and their commitment to working with the staff to address issues concerning Arkansans. They have taken advantage of the opportunities in Washington and learned about legislative process and how we serve the people of our state,” Boozman said.
Spencer Barnes, Kelsey Brodie, Weston Cox, Jordan Garcia, Will Hegi, Asela Kapparova, Stephanie Long, Trent Minner, James Reed, Ethan Tisdale and Abby Tolar are finishing their five week internship in Boozman’s office. The interns have worked answering phones, writing letters, researching legislative issues and giving Arkansans tours of the U.S. Capitol.
Spencer Barnes is a 2012 graduate of Batesville High School in Batesville. He is a junior at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He is pursuing a degree in Economics and a minor in Biology.
Kelsey Brodie is a 2011 graduate of Rogers High School in Rogers. She is a senior at the University of Arkansas where she is pursuing a degree in Psychology.
Weston Cox is a 2011 graduate of Jonesboro High School in Jonesboro. He is a senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Agriculture Economics and Agriculture Business and minoring in Finance.
Jordan Garcia is a 2011 graduate of Van Buren High School in Van Buren. She is a senior at Arkansas Tech University working toward earning a degree in Political Science and minor in Pre-Law and Sociology. She has an associate degree in Criminal Justice.
Will Hegi is a 2011 graduate of El Dorado High School in El Dorado. He is a senior at Ouachita Baptist University and is pursuing a degree in Accounting.
Asela Kapparova is from Almaty, Kazakhstan where she attended St. Paul’s School. Asela is pursuing a degree in Environmental Science and Sustainability at Cornell University.
Stephanie Long is a graduate of Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville. She is a junior at the University of Arkansas and is double-majoring in Biology and Psychology.
Trent Minner is a 2011 graduate of Conway Christian High School in Conway. He is a senior at John Brown University where he is pursuing a degree in Marketing.
James Reed is from Los Angeles, California and went to Redondo Union High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Political Science and History and minor in Economics and International Affairs from George Washington University. He is pursuing a Master’s degree in Political Management.
Ethan Tisdale is a 2012 graduate of Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville. Ethan is a junior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Finance and minoring in Spanish.
Abby Tolar is from Columbia, South Carolina where she graduated from Spring Valley High School. She attends Queens University of Charlotte where she is majoring in Communications and minoring in French.
