WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman helped Butterfield Trail Middle School eighth graders kick off their ‘Rock the Vote’ unit from the nation’s capital via Skype, an online video chat service.

During the ‘Rock theVote’ unit, students will learn about the government, elections and active citizenship by studying elements related to these subjects in history, language arts, math and science.

Boozman discussed his role as a U.S. Senator and shared how students can play an active role in the government.

“Learning about the legislative process is an important lesson. I hope this unit helps shape students’ interest in civic involvement and encourages them to play an active role in the community. I appreciate this opportunity to connect with these eighth graders and share with them my work in Washington on behalf of all Arkansans,” Boozman said.

Boozman was the first in a series of special guests on Thursday to help get students excited about the lessons they’ll be learning during the next month.
