WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) was recognized for his support of international religious freedom during the first session of the 113th Congress.

Venn Action, a nonprofit organization that works to protect and promote religious freedom worldwide, awarded Boozman an ‘A’ rating for cosponsoring legislation that promotes an individual’s religious rights.

“People across the globe deserve the right to practice their faith how they choose. I am happy to support efforts to protect and promote religious freedom and tolerance. Citizens around the world look to our country as a beacon of hope because of the rights afforded to our citizens and they deserve the same respect,” Boozman said.

Boozman was recognized for his support of the following:

  •  S.653 Near East and South Central Asia Religious Freedom Act of 2013
  •  S. Res.75 Condemning the Government of Iran for its state-sponsored persecution of its Baha’i minority and its continued violation of the International Covenants on Human Rights
  •  S. 929 Vietnam Human Rights Sanctions Act
