WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) requested Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack extend loan repayment dates for farmers impacted by the collapse of Turner Grain Merchandising Inc., in Brinkley, Arkansas and urged to make these farmers eligible for low-interest, emergency loans.

In a letter, Boozman wrote that farmers are victims of Turner Grain’s financial mismanagement and “are facing significant financial difficulties if their contracts are not honored” and the company files for bankruptcy. He requested an extension of the commodity Credit Corporation loan repayment date for those farmers impacted writing “I appreciate the 15-day extension granted by the Farm Service Agency (FSA) on August 20, 2014, but I believe more time is needed for these producers are legal issues are resolved.”
