WASHINGTON– U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) released the following statement after President Trump announced the United States will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the U.S. Embassy to the city:

“This is a long overdue decision that I, and a majority of my colleagues in Congress, have been calling for in the decades since the law was passed. I applaud President Trump for making the historic determination to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and for pledging to move our embassy there.

During the announcement, President Trump reaffirmed our commitment to a process that brings lasting peace to the region. Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in no way weakens our resolve to achieve peace through direct talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.”
