WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-Arkansas) issued the following statement on the U.S. District for the Northern District of Florida’s ruling on the constitutionality of the new health care law:
“This ruling is a major step forward as it is the first time a judge has declared the entire health care law unconstitutional. Enactment of this law was an incredible overreach by the government and I am pleased that the courts have recognized this fact.”
“Our nation’s health care system is in dire need of reform, but this law was never the right way to address it. On top of the Constitutional questions the law creates, it does nothing to contain skyrocketing medical costs which are the root of the problem. It needs to be repealed and replaced with reform that is based in free-market principles that actually reduces the cost of health care so more Americans can afford to buy insurance.”
“It is my hope that Majority Leader Reid will look at this court decision, understand that the American people never wanted this unconstitutional law and bring up our legislation that repeals it.”
