WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR), a member of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee released the following statement after meeting with the nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue:
“With a background in agriculture and as a veterinarian, Governor Perdue has a unique understanding of the opportunities and challenges our farmers and ranchers face each day. We had a good conversation about the importance of agriculture to Arkansas and the hurdles our producers face in providing a safe and abundant food supply that helps feed the world. We discussed policies to open access for agriculture trade with Cuba and the need to ensure that the farm safety net works for Arkansas and all regions of the country as we begin to craft the next farm bill. Governor Perdue is very well-respected, and I look forward to working with him to address the needs of our agriculture community.”
