WASHINGTON D.C.–U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today joined Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-2) to announce a $2,293,444 grant for the new Conway Municipal Airport. The funding will be used to complete construction at the airport in time for its August opening.
“I’ve been proud to work with the City of Conway, as well as Senator Boozman and Congressman Griffin to secure an on-time arrival for this new airport. Thanks to these additional resources, we will now have an airport equipped to handle the volume of business and travelers in this growing area,” said Pryor.
“This airport is an important key to economic development to this growing region,” Boozman said. “These funds will allow the community to make the necessary improvements to deal with increasing transportation needs and final preparations for completion of this project.”
“This new airport in Conway will spur job creation and economic growth in central Arkansas, and I have long supported its development. I look forward to the airport opening this summer,” said Griffin.
The grant will be used to expand the northeast and T-hangar aprons; install on-site water and electrical utilities; install Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS A/V); relocate the remote communications outlet (RCO); and construct the T-Hangar access road. The funding is supported by the omnibus appropriations bill, which was signed into law in January.
