WASHINGTON, D.C. – Heart to Heart Pregnancy Support Center Executive Director, Theresa Reeves was named a 2011 Angel in Adoption for her outstanding advocacy of adoption.

In the seven years as Executive Director of the Fort Smith center, Reeves has facilitated more than 30 adoptions, providing children with safe, healthy and loving homes. As a strong advocate for adoption, Reeves speaks to schools and civic organizations about its benefits all while continuing her extensive training in order to provide the best services to adoptive parents and families.

“I am very humbled and honored to receive this recognition. I never expected to be rewarded for my outreach efforts to promote and enable adoption. This is a dream come true, but more importantly more children are able to grow up in a loving environment,” Reeves said.

Senator John Boozman nominated Reeves as a 2011 Congressional Angel in Adoption. Boozman met with Reeves during a ceremony on Capitol Hill on Tuesday and included remarks of her accomplishments and dedication in the Congressional Record, the official proceedings of Congress. He will join her for a gala event tonight in honor of the more than 140 Angels.

“Theresa is a selfless crusader for children who need a family. I am proud of all she has done for to find loving homes for children and for her continued support and promotion of adoption. Theresa’s efforts on behalf of children are priceless,” Boozman said.

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), coordinates the Angels in Adoptionprogram and raises awareness about the tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in the United States, and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent homes.

“The Angels in Adoption program is unlike any other program in the Nation’s Capital. Because of it, over 1800 “Angels” have come to share with Washington their adoption experience and left with a renewed excitement of all that adoption makes possible,” Kathleen Strottman, Executive Director of the CCAI said.  “I learned one simple lesson from my time on the hill, knowledge is power.  Angels in Adoption is meant to give Members of Congress the knowledge they need to use the power they have toward making the dream of a family a reality for every child.”
