WASHINGTON, DC—U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) encouraged Arkansans to shop locally this weekend in support of Small Business Saturday.

“Small Business Saturday recognizes the local businesses and neighborhood retailers and the importance they play in our communities. Money spent in our small businesses gets reinvested, draws attention to local merchants and could ultimately lead to more new jobs. In this economy, small businesses have struggled and they need our support. By taking the small step of shopping locally this holiday season, we can make a big impact on our communities.”

Boozman is a cosponsor of the Senate-passed resolution that designates the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday. The National Retail Federation estimates that 247 million shopper spent nearly $60 billion during Thanksgiving weekend in 2012.
