WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today joined Congressmen Rick Crawford (AR-1), Tim Griffin (AR-2), Steve Womack (AR-3), and Tom Cotton (AR-4) in applauding FEMA’s decision to designate Pulaski, Randolph, and White Counties as major disaster areas, ensuring Arkansas communities hit by last week’s tornadoes have the resources they need to rebuild and recover.

“Our state has made incredible progress over the last week thanks to Arkansans’ faith, hard work, and commitment to moving forward,” Pryor said. “Combined with our efforts, these funds from FEMA will give our communities the extra boost they need to get back on their feet.”

“I am pleased that FEMA quickly recognized the need for assistance for Arkansans in Pulaski, Randolph and White Counties,” Boozman said. “These funds are critical to the recovery and rebuilding process for businesses, families and communities.”

“I appreciate the timely response by FEMA with regard to the storm damage that occurred throughout Arkansas last week.  My staff stands ready to work with state and local officials to assist those individuals who will be applying for federal assistance in the wake of these terrible storms,” said Crawford.

“The damage and devastation caused by the recent storm spans across central Arkansas, and certain areas need immediate assistance. I am grateful for the decision to designate Pulaski, Randolph, and White Counties as major disaster areas, which will provide critical resources to the Arkansans who need them. We will continue working to rebuild our communities as we pray for the families impacted,” said Griffin.

"Disaster assistance will make a world of difference to Arkansans who are continuing to recover and rebuild after last week's storms, and I will continue to work to ensure Arkansans get the assistance they need,” said Womack.

"I am grateful for the continued swift action by FEMA to support Arkansas and will work with my colleagues to ensure that support is easily accessible for those who need it most,” said Cotton.

Under this designation, Arkansans will be eligible to apply for Individual Assistance to cover the costs of temporary housing, home repairs and replacement, housing construction, transportation, food commodities and coupons, crisis counseling, disaster unemployment assistance, legal services, Small Business Administration low interest loans, and medical, dental, and funeral expenses.
