Jul 09 2018
WASHINGTON– U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) released the following statement in support of Robert Wilkie to serve as Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) after meeting with him in his Washington office on Monday:
“Robert Wilkie has led a life of public service as a military child, military officer and civil servant. His extensive resume includes experiences with a wide range of defense and veterans’ issues. He clearly understands the complexities associated with serving our nation and the importance of taking care of our veterans. I am hopeful that under his leadership, the VA will continue the so-far efficient and effective clinical review process underway at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center and that he will implement policies to prevent such tragedies from happening at VA facilities in the future.I appreciate his willingness to serve as Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs and look forward to working with him to improve veterans services.”
The Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will hold a business meeting on Tuesday, July 10 to vote on Wilkie’s nomination.
