WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators John Boozman and Mark Pryor along with U.S. Congressman Mike Ross (AR-04) today announced the Texarkana Airport Authority will receive a $484,170 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to advance construction of a new terminal at Texarkana Regional-Webb Field.  The grant will be used to conduct an environmental assessment of a proposed new airport terminal building and for other projected airport needs.  The environmental assessment is a required step before construction on the terminal can begin. 

“This is the first step to expanding services at Webb Field,” Boozman said. “It is my hope that this process moves forward quickly so we can begin construction as soon as possible. The goal of these funds is to help airports expand and improve services, which will lead to more jobs and businesses in Arkansas.” 

“Local airports help drive job creation and economic development in surrounding communities, and provide much-needed travel options for residents and businesses.  This grant will help the Texarkana airport move forward in improving its facilities so it can better serve the community,” Pryor said. 

“Local airports like Webb Field help connect communities all across Arkansas to the rest of the country and provide the foundation for strong economic development and growth throughout the region,” said Ross.  “This investment in Webb Field will help clear some of the hurdles needed to start construction at the airport as soon as possible.  The new terminal will help serve more customers and help to bring even more businesses and more jobs to the region.”
