WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman, along with Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-1) today announced that the Delta Regional Airport Authority will receive a $2,000,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to continue construction on the new Delta Regional Airport in Colt.  The funds will be used to build an access road and utilities and terminal area facilities for the airport.

“These federal funds will bring the Delta Regional Airport one step closer to the finish line, helping spur economic development and improving the quality of life for families in the region,” Pryor said.

“These grants will encourage economic development throughout the region and will help pave a path to private sector job growth and an improved quality of life,” Boozman said.

“The Delta Regional Airport has the potential to create great economic growth for Northeast Arkansas. These federal funds move our region one step closer to greater opportunity for families and businesses,” Crawford said.

The Forrest City Municipal Airport and Wynne Municipal Airport will close down once the Delta Regional Airport is in operation. The Delta Regional Airport will be able to serve more passengers than the Forrest City and Wynne airports and meet an increased demand for service in the area.
