Boozman Encourages Businesses to Hire Veterans
Apr 02 2014
WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator John Boozman, a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, joined efforts to promote veterans employment while providing relief from the burdensome Obamacare employer mandate joining in the introduction of the Hire More Heroes Act.
“Obamacare’s employer mandate shouldn’t be a hurdle for our veterans when looking for a job following military service. This bill encourages businesses to hire these heroes and allows companies to expand without being penalized under the problematic law,” Boozman said.
The bill, S. 2190, allows employees with TRICARE or other veterans administration health coverage to be exempted from the Obamacare employer mandate. Employers would not be required to count them toward their total number of employees for the mandate that requires all businesses with more than 50 full-time employees to provide health insurance to their staffs.
The legislation was introduced by Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) and has bipartisan support in the Senate. This bill is supported by the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) and the Retired Enlisted Association.
Similar legislation was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 406 to1.
