WASHINGTON – Harrison residents calling Senator John Boozman’s Washington, D.C. office may find a familiar voice at the other end of the line.

Heba A. Abdelaal of Harrison is participating in Senator Boozman’s Congressional Spring Internship Program in Washington, D.C.

“Heba has been a great help to the people of Arkansas during her time in Washington. We appreciate her hard work and dedication to serving Arkansans and being an ambassador for our office,” Boozman said.

“Having the opportunity to serve Arkansas as an intern in Senator John Boozman’s office is nothing short of a dream. After I graduated from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville, I knew my love for U.S. democracy meant moving to D.C. and pursuing a lifelong goal. Family and friends will tell you that politics and government have always been my greatest passions. It is truly an honor to learn under Senator Boozman’s leadership as an active member and participant of the U.S. government on our behalf. And it is indefinable what a humbling experience this has been for me,” Abdelaal said.

Abdelaal’s internship allows her to attend committee hearings and legislative briefings, work with congressional staff on various state and federal projects, provide constituent services to visiting Arkansans and give tours of the U.S. Capitol.

Abdelaal is a 2007 graduate of Texas High School, and graduated in the spring of 2011 from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Spanish and Middle Eastern Studies.  She is the daughter of Ali and Gihan Abdelaal of Harrison, and sister to Yasmeen Abdelaal.
