WASHINGTON – Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James presented U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) with the Secretary of the Air Force Distinguished Public Service Award, the Air Force’s highest public service award bestowed to private citizens.

“I am honored to receive this award,” Boozman said. “My dad was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force, so this branch has always held a special place in my heart. I am proud to support the Air Force and the men and women whose service and sacrifice make our country safer. I look forward to working with my colleagues to provide the Air Force with the resources it needs to advance its mission.”

“Senator Boozman has exhibited extraordinary leadership and vision that has ensured America’s Air Force remained the pre-eminent air, space, and cyberspace force in the world,” Secretary James said. “His unwavering advocacy of the Air Force and support of the service’s priorities ensures the service will remain the world’s best Air Force well into the future."

The Secretary of the Air Force Distinguished Public Service Award was established to recognize private citizens who provide distinguished public service to the Air Force which translates into substantial contributions on the national level to the accomplishment of the Air Force mission.

Boozman is the co-chair of the Senate Air Force Caucus which focuses on issues affecting the Air Force, and sponsors briefings, base visits and meetings between Air Force personnel and members of Congress.
