WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman today joined Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) to announce that two rural Arkansas airports will receive grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
“Keeping our airports in top-notch shape is an investment in safety and our future economic development,” Pryor said. “This funding will ensure the Boone County Airport and Malvern Municipal Airport have the facilities and resources they need to provide vital transportation services for Arkansans.”
“Improvements to Arkansas airports are important for long term growth and development,” Boozman said. “These infrastructure investments will help expand economic opportunities in our state.”
"This is great news for rural Arkansas. These funds – and the continued investment in our transportation infrastructure – will benefit Arkansans and our state's economy," said Womack.
The airports receiving funding are as follows:
• Harrison: The Boone County Airport will receive $89,870 to rehabilitate the runway. The rehabilitation is needed to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and minimize foreign objects and debris.
• Malvern: The Malvern Municipal Airport will receive $49,500 to update its Airport Master Plan narrative report and Airport Layout Plan, which will help address key issues, objectives, and goals regarding its future development.
