WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) joined efforts to delay Obamacare’s individual mandate as long as employer mandate delays remain in effect by cosponsoring the Freeing Americans from Inequitable Requirements (FAIR) Act. 

“Obamacare is a burden on families, businesses and our economy. President Obama has abused his authority and selected who has to follow the law. It’s clear that Obamacare is unworkable. I remain committed to repealing and replacing this terrible law but until then Americans deserve to be treated fairly under this law. That means delaying the individual mandate penalty as long as the employer mandate is waived,” Boozman said. 

In the past year, the Obama Administration has delayed or modified Obamacare 20 times. The most recent announcement was last week. The Administration announced it would yet again delay Obamacare’s minimum coverage requirements for health plans offered by insurance companies to avoid another wave of cancellations this fall.

In 2009, as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Boozman opposed Obamacare, speaking out against the plan on numerous occasions on the House floor, in the media and at town halls in Arkansas. Despite Boozman and his colleagues’ opposition, President Obama was able to force his plan though Congress because of the Democrat majority in both the House and Senate. Since his election to the Senate in 2010, Boozman has been active in the effort to repeal and defund Obamacare and has supported bills and voted to repeal Obamacare at every opportunity he has had.
