WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman released the following statement after voting for legislation to repeal the most burdensome provisions of Obamacare, allowing for the program to be replaced with one that provides real health care reform for the American people.

The Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, which passed the Senate by vote of 52-47 this evening, also defunds Planned Parenthood.

Boozman on repealing key parts of Obamacare:

“For too long, Senate Democrats have played partisan politics and shielded President Obama from ever having to see the frustrations of the American people. They have denied the overwhelming voices of the American people from being heard by blocking every effort to repeal Obamacare. In doing so, they have deprived Americans of real health care reform simply to protect President Obama’s legacy.

This strategy is wholly disconnected from the concerns, worries and anxieties of the American people.

Americans are tired of the broken promises of Obamacare. The law remains unworkable, unaffordable and more unpopular than ever. With this vote, the Senate took a crucial step forward in beginning to lift the burdens and higher costs the law has placed on all Americans.

This bill repeals the most burdensome parts of Obamacare, paving the way for the failed program to be replaced with a healthcare system that provides market-based solutions that will bring the changes that Obamacare, and all it’s broken promises, simply cannot deliver.”

Boozman on defunding Planned Parenthood:

“Planned Parenthood has shown a clear disregard for the sanctity of life and hardworking taxpayers should not be footing the bill for these inhumane practices. This bill redirects money from the organization to other women’s health services providers to ensure that taxpayers are not funding Planned Parenthood’s indefensible actions.”
