U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) introduced two Arkansans who testified at today’s Senate Agriculture Committee hearing exploring how U.S. policy can assist the development of local markets for farmers.
Jody Hardin, a fifth-generation family farmer from Grady and Ronald McCormick, Senior Director of Sustainable Agriculture at Walmart offered their unique insights on marketing crops locally to the Committee members as part of the second panel of witnesses for the “Hearing on Healthy Food Initiatives, Local Production, and Nutrition.”
Senator Boozman, a member of the Senate Commerce Committee questioned witnesses about regulations protecting passengers and the environment.
“The American people are tired of the finger pointing that has stalled much of the work they sent us here to do, but I’m hopeful we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. That starts with trying to enact all appropriations bills through a regular process this year,” Boozman said in his speech.
Boozman joined the bipartisan effort on the Senate floor highlighting the need for regular order in the chamber and trying to enact the appropriations bills as a good example.
Senator John Boozman heard testimony today from Administrator Bruce Nelson, of the Farm Service Agency, and Chief David White, of the Natural Resources Conservation Service during the Senate Agriculture committee hearing on strengthening conservation in the 2012 Farm Bill.

Senator Boozman spoke in support of S. J. Res. 6 which would put a stop to the FCC's Net Neutrality rules from going forward. He spoke on the Senate Floor talking about how the rules will stifle innovation, investment and ultimately job growth.
